A TRADITION OF QUALITY IN EVERY BOTTLE

Around here, we don’t just produce the best-tasting dairy products in all the land. We also produce them sustainably, preserving the purity and all-natural goodness inside every bottle. That’s our promise to you and it hasn’t changed since our beginning, in 1987.

Promised Land® Dairy began on a small family-owned farm in Floresville, Texas with a small herd of Jersey cows – the cream of the crop as far as dairy cows go.

Today, even though we’ve grown, we’re still proud to carry on the same old-fashioned values and traditions that began more than 30 years ago. We continue to produce milk from Jersey cows, sourced from farms with high standards of cow care and humane treatment.

We take an equal amount of care when it comes to processing and bottling. At our HACCP-and SQF-approved dairy, we produce daily so that once it’s on the shelf, it’s about as fresh from the cow as you can get (unless you own one, of course.)

Each of our kosher-certified white milks and flavored milks, like Midnight Chocolate and Very Berry Strawberry, have only the highest quality for a taste you have to try to believe. In fact, many of our fans claim our flavors taste like ice cream. That’s because a lot of our flavors are actually made from our original ice cream recipes, just in liquid form!

Go ahead and try some. We promise you’ll taste our tradition of all-Jersey and all-natural quality and care, in every bottle.

The Jersey Difference

WHAT MAKES JERSEY COWS SO SPECIAL?

We get asked all the time why we’re so darn proud of our Jersey cows. It’s true that they don’t produce the same quantity of milk of larger breeds (say Holstein, for example), but they do provide an exceptional quality of milk higher in calcium and protein as well as milk solids that help give the milk its rich, creamy texture.

You can taste the difference a Jersey cow makes, too, in all our flavors, including whole and reduced fat milks. No other brand compares to Promised Land’s taste. That’s why it’s a special breed of cow that dairy farmers covet. In fact, many retired farmers say that even though they’ve milked other breeds, they always keep at least one Jersey for their own family.

Memory Lane

MEMORY LANE

If there’s one thing we love even more than our milk, it would be Molly – our original Jersey cow and company mascot. Take a look inside our photo album to see why.

Nutrition

PROMISED LAND NUTRITION

WHOLESOME NUTRITION

Promised Land is a richer, creamier and more delicious milk. That’s because it comes from wholesome Jersey cows, the cream of the dairy cow crop. Our herd is treated with a lot of TLC but never any artificial hormones* Happy, healthy Jersey cows make milk that’s naturally higher in protein and calcium. And while they may produce less than other breeds, we’ve always believed in quality over quantity. It’s part of the tradition of purity and uncompromising care we started back in 1987 on our small, family-owned farm. So taste the Promised Land difference, free of artificial colors and flavors and full of the natural goodness you crave.

PROTEIN & CALCIUM

What separates Jersey cows from the average dairy cow? It’s true they don’t produce the same quantity of milk as Holsteins, but they do provide an exceptional quality of milk higher in calcium and protein as well as milk solids that help give milk its rich, creamy texture. In fact, compared to an average glass of milk, a glass of Promised Land® Dairy has 15-20% more protein and 15-18% more calcium.

TYPES OF PROTEIN

When it comes to protein, there are two types milk lovers should be aware of: A1 and A2. A1 proteins come from a variety of cows, like Holsteins, and they produce the majority of the milk we drink in the U.S. Jerseys on the other hand, produce more A2 protein in their milk. When A2 protein is broken down in our bodies, it produces significantly less of a molecule that can affect the nervous and immune system and cause inflammation and congestion. It’s a small difference, but it explains why some people who may find regular milk difficult to digest are able to drink Promised Land® Dairy milks without feeling sick.

KOSHER CERTIFICATION

All of our products meet the rigorous kosher standards of the Orthodox Union (OU) and adhere to strict dietary rules and production standards. Each has been certified by a rabbi and contains zero non-kosher additives, such as meat products or derivatives. To learn more about how dairy products become certified Kosher, click here.

ULTRA-PASTEURIZATION

Promised Land milk is Ultra-Pasteurized. Using Ultra-Pasteurization, the milk is processed at a higher temperature but for a less amount of time than other pasteurization methods. This ensures our milk maintains its thick, rich, creamy taste. We work hard to have our milk as fresh as possible from cow to container to our customers.

WHY WE ARE NOT ORGANIC

Because certified organic feed for our cows is not widely available through our family farms, our cows and their milk cannot be USDA certified as organic. However, you can rest assured our farmers use the highest standards of care and humane treatment of our animals.

FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are You Kosher Certified?

Yes! All of our products meet the rigorous kosher standards of the Orthodox Union (OU) and adhere to strict dietary rules and production standards. Each has been certified by a rabbi and contains zero non-kosher additives, such as meat products or derivatives.

What Are the Jersey Cows Fed?

Along with rich, natural grasses, our farmers’ Jersey cows are fed a mix of feeds and grains (like soy beans, beet pulp and molasses, to name a few). This balance maintains the health and well-being of our cows and ensures they receive vital nutrients and proteins.

Are You Certified Organic? Why Not?

Promised Land milks are natural and have been gluten-free since 2006. However, because certified organic feed for our cows is not widely available through our family farms, our cows and their milk cannot be USDA certified as organic. However, you can rest assured our farmers use the highest standards of care and humane treatment of our animals.

Is Promised Land Dairy Ultra-Pasteurized?

Promised Land milk is pasteurized using Ultra-Pasteurization. Using Ultra-Pasteurization, the milk is processed at a higher temperature but for a less amount of time than other pasteurization methods. This ensures our milk maintains its thick, rich, creamy taste. We work hard to have our milk as fresh as possible from cow to container to our customers.

What Happened to My Glass Bottles?

After much consideration, we’ve decided to switch to 100% recyclable, BPA-free PET bottles. It may be surprising, but these plastic bottles are actually the best way to protect the flavor and freshness of our old-fashioned milk. They help block food odors in the fridge that alter the milk taste. They also shield from UV rays, which break down our milk’s healthy vitamins and minerals. Plus, our plastic bottles are oops-proof and easier to handle for the whole family.

Hey, What Happened to My Favorite Flavor?

We apologize if your favorite flavor is no longer available. We are, however, always working on new delicious flavors and would love your suggestions. You can submit a new flavor idea on our Facebook page.

Can I Take a Tour of Promised Land Dairy?

Unfortunately, we’re no longer offering tours. Safe Quality Food standards do not permit us to offer tours for quality, safety and security reasons.

Why Don’t You Make Ice Cream Anymore?

While we began as an ice cream dairy, today, we’re focused on producing the thickest, richest, creamiest, best-tasting milk flavors we can. However, if you’re a fan of our ice cream and still want a taste, you’re in luck. Many of our milks are actually our original ice cream recipes, just in liquid form!
